PCP AIR RIFLES

PCP AIR RIFLES AND VIDEOS

PCP air rifles is a new hobby that I picked up this last year due to a good friend of mine.  This is not like the good old BB guns we shot when we were young kids.  These guns are very accurate and can shoot tight groups out well beyond 100 yards.

This gun is manufactured in Russia, fairly hard to obtain.  It is an EDgun R3 Long .25 caliber.  Nice gun bullpup style shots precise and easy to carry.

Dont eat the dog food or you might pay for it with your life…but don’t drop that dog food til you have to.

So close, but you can’t hit them all or it would not be hunting!

TED’S HOLD OVER:

This is a great video from Ted who lives in WI. I want to give him all the credit for being one of the best video artist in the world when it comes to shooting great movies about air gun hunting. He also reviews many different air rifles, so if your interest is piqued and you want to buy one watch his videos.  You can find him on YouTube by searching EDgun USA. Gunnison Prairie Dog Hunt

This next video is from a hunt in northern Arizona for Gunnison Prairie Dog.I went on this hunt with my buddy AB.  This was a great day of hunting and enjoying the fun of shooting our air rifles.  AB is the one who shot the dog with his .25 cal Marauder. The shot was over 80 yards and as the video shows a direct head shot.  I was shooting my FX 500 this day.  The day started early like 4am when we left the valley.  We went up through Chino Valley, and I must say beautiful country, I could even stand to live there.  Neither of us had been through the area so it was nice to see it.  We were worried that the weather might interfere with our hunt as it was chances of storms that day, and we could see as we were driving there that it was raining to the west.  We arrived at the sign in location and both of us were thinking now what?  The area we were hunting is a working cattle ranch, and a cowboy pulled up in a pickup to open the gate by the check in.  I approached him, and inquired where would be a good place to hunt.  I could tell by his reaction to follow him through the gate and there would be plenty of dogs to hunt.  That was good news as there were other gates and entrances to go through.  I was the lucky one as I was the driver, and before we drove half a mile we went through 2 gates and of course AB as the passenger got to do the opening and shutting of the gates.

We pulled up to the third gate and as AB was opening it I looked out to the right and wow dogs running everywhere.  Geez I just parked the truck in the gate opening and told AB to load up and start shooting.  It was no time at all and he had hit 3 dogs.  We were both use to shooting off a bench so AB rested on the fence, but was still shaking like a dog shitting razor blades as he shot and hit the first 3 dogs.  While he was shooting I was spotting and ranging for him.  I then got loaded up and he spotted for me and within no time at all we had shot probably 10 to 15 dogs.  We set up the bench and AB attached the camera to his scope for the video.  We also did some spot and stalking walking and shooting as we went.  Both AB and myself made shot out past 100 yards.  There was no doubt when you hit one, as the sound of the pellet hitting was very distinct.  After shooting for an hour or so we had lunch and then drove to see if we could find other dogs.  The drive did not bring much luck, but as we came back to the first spot, AB said I just have to shoot one more prior to the storm that was coming in.  With in no time he had shot 3 more dogs before it started to rain.  Without stretching the truth we probably shot well over 25 dogs this day.  This was a great day, and for sure going back as soon as possible.

This video shows the 80 yard shot and the dog hits the ground….funny, watch the dog running around in the background wondering if he will be next.

80 yard shot, and dropped him like a rock

Direct hit:  No doubt that this bird did not make it far…..well he make it to the ground.

This was for sure a direct hit.

Pellet Wobble

This is pretty weird how this pellet is headed directly at the bird, but then begins to wobble just knocking off a few feathers.
